Home for Good

St Andrew’s and All Saints churches stand with and support Home for Good, a Christian charity which raises up families who adopt and foster children who need a ‘Home for Good’.

James 1:27 in the Bible says ‘Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.’

Every 22 minutes a child is taken into care. Very few of these are orphans but there are now more children in care than ever before. Around 70% of these children have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse and they need a loving family to look after them either temporarily through fostering or forever through adoption.

‘A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families.’ Psalm 68:5-6

In our churches we have a number of families who foster/adopt, or who have done so in the past.  Our monthly support group provides a safe place for them to meet, share experiences and difficulties, and pray for each other. We encourage the church to wrap around and support these families through prayer or through practical support, for example gifts and meals when children arrive in their new families, or offering babysitting or respite to give them a break.
