Holiday at Home 2018

6th, 8th and 10th August 2018
Another very successful series of H@H events were held in August.

Monday 6th August – This was a “traditional” H@H day starting with tea/coffee and biscuits,
followed by: “Thought for the Day” with Dave Bruce

A fascinating talk by Bea McGowan entitled “My Journeys in Peru”

A number of Activity Zones – flower arranging, hand massage and decorative card making, all accompanied by endless supplies of tea and coffee.

Do you think they were discussing Brexit?

A delicious two-course lunch was “dished up” by a team who had trained for minutes beforehand to ensure their level of service was impeccable.

After lunch our guests watched a film show then finished off with tea and cakes.

Wednesday 8th August – Forty six of us travelled by luxury wheelchair-assist coach to Kidderminster for a return journey on the Severn Valley Railway service to Bridgnorth. A picnic lunch was provided, which our guests enjoyed on-board.  The weather stayed fine for us so most took the opportunity to get off at Bridgnorth for a short walk around and a drink or ice-cream before the journey back.  On return to St Andrew’s we sat down to a scrumptious cream tea and had the opportunity to listen to our Curate, Peter Myres, share his “Thought for the Day” with us.

Friday 10th August – A late start today with lunch being the first activity of the day.  Once again Rosemary prepared a delicious meal for us, prior to which David Ritchie had spoken to us about his “Thought for the Day”.  We then headed off to Webbs of Wychbold and, despite bad weather, everybody had a great time exploring the different retail outlets and making the most of the on-site café.
